Jennifer Lopez isn't looking to change her relationship status anytime soon.

In an interview with Good Morning America that aired Wednesday (March 11), the "On the Floor" singer, 56, shared that she is "happy" being single at the moment, more than a year after finalizing her divorce from ex-husband Ben Affleck, per E! News. The pair were married for two years before their split in August 2024.

"I'm in my happy era," she said. "I think, for the first time in my life, I feel like I'm free; I'm on my own. And it feels really good."

While she may be enjoying the single life now, Lopez had to take time after her split from Affleck to fully sit in the major life change and spend time with her 18-year-old twins Max and Emme, whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony.

"I took a year off. I canceled tours. I decided to just be home and sit in what had happened without running away from it through work, through another person, through anything. Just sit," she said, adding, "I needed to be home with my kids and that was the priority at that time."

The Kiss of the Spider Woman actress explained how being single has been a new experience since she has spent much of her adult life in relationships.

"I didn't really know what that felt like since I was in my early 20s — and even before that. I've always had boyfriends. There was always someone in my life, and so many things that I felt like were out of my control," she said, adding, "I've gotten to the point where I really trust myself and appreciate myself a little bit more, instead of being so hard on myself and always trying to prove myself."

On that note, she is happy with where she is at the moment and not jumping back into the dating pool.

"I don't want to ruin anything," she said. "It's so nice right now. I'm so happy. It's the best. I just feel really good right now, and that was a scary thing for me when I was younger. I didn't know if I could do that. I was always really afraid to be alone."
