Katy Perry Teases New Songs From 'Smile' Album: Hear The Snippets

Katy Perry's new music will bring a smile to your face.

The pregnant superstar, who is expected to give birth to her first child with fiance Orlando Bloom any day now, surprised her Katy Kats with special snippets of not one, but two new tracks off her upcoming album, Smile. During her first “Smile Sunday” livestream, Perry whipped out her phone to share two soon-to-be bops, titled “Not the End of the World” and “What Makes a Woman.”

“It's not the end of the world/ No, not the end of the world/ Throw in your fancy attire/ Fears to the fire Don’t lose hope,” Perry belts in the chorus of what sounds to be a triumphant anthem on the former record.

On the latter, she sings over a country guitar groove: “Could spend your whole life but you couldn’t/ Describe what makes a woman/ She’s always there a perfect mystery/ Could spend your whole life but you couldn’t/ Describe what makes a woman/ That's what makes a woman to me.”

The mommy-to-be spoke at length about "What Makes a Woman" in a recent interview with Billboard, describing that the song was made for women like herself who feel empowered by their work. “It’s a song about how you are gonna have a tough time measuring what truly makes a woman because women are so many things,” she explained. “I’ve just experienced the feeling, just, I feel very empowered creating a life and being a working woman whilst doing that.”

So far, Perry has released two songs from her new album (delayed to August 28), “Daisies” and “Smile,” the latter of which will have its music video premiere on August 14.

It’s no telling whether either of the new tracks she teased this weekend will be her next follow-up, but from the sounds of it, Smile is going to be amazing.
