Frank Ocean Returns With First Song In 2 Years: Hear 'DHL' Now

Frank Ocean is back with a new single.

On Saturday (October 19), the singer-songwriter marked his return to music last night with the release of an intimate record called “DHL,” the recording artist's first offering in two years. In the futuristic cut, which taps into Ocean’s sensual, neo-soul sound, draws on themes of desire, seduction and gratification. “Look at them shakes/ Made up a dance/ How come you shook?/ But I ain’t took out my hands,” the New Orleans native raps in the opening verse as the tune veers into sexy synth grooves and droning bass booms.

On the surface, the track could be taken as a literal homage to the German shipping company of the same name, which the "Nikes" crooner once marveled about on Instagram a few years ago. "If I ever buy a plane," the vocalist captioned a shot of a DHL plane at the time.

Ocean’s latest track, co-produced by Boys Noize, also signals the dawn of his FO3 era. This proved to be the case, as days before, the musician teased a handful of tunes at his new queer club PrEP+ night in New York City. As confirmed by Pitchfork, Ocean has also dropped previews for two other tracks called “Dear April” and “Cayendo.” If all goes well, the 31-year-old’s long-awaited third studio album will follow 2016's Blonde sometime soon.
